As the eldest, Abdul Jaleel Bajwa faced hardship from an early age. Forced by family circumstances to leave school at just eight years old, he entered the surgical instruments industry while most children were still in classrooms. What he lacked in formal education, he made up for with discipline, perseverance, and an eagerness to learn.
His younger brother, Mohammad Afzal Bajwa, followed a different path. As he grew older, the family decided to send him abroad in search of better opportunities. He worked as a laborer for a drilling company, supporting his family through honest and demanding work. When the company eventually closed, he returned to Pakistan and entered the surgical instruments industry, bringing with him invaluable life experience and the same determination that had guided him overseas.
By the age of fourteen, Abdul Jaleel Bajwa was working full-time in the industry. Over the years, he mastered the craft and gained a deep understanding of the business while working at Ekal Surgical. Driven by the belief that hard work could create new opportunities, he took a leap of faith by purchasing a few machines, hiring a small team, and beginning production from his family home while continuing his employment. It was a modest beginning, but one built on ambition, resilience, and confidence in his vision.
When Mohammad Afzal Bajwa returned to Pakistan, the two brothers made a decision that would shape their family's future. Having both experienced hardship in different ways, they resolved that their children would not have to endure the same struggles they had faced. With a shared vision and an unshakable work ethic, they committed themselves to building something of their own. Day after day, they showed up, worked tirelessly, and reinvested every opportunity into the business they believed in.
Together, they transformed a small home-based operation into Ekal Surgical Works - a company built not on shortcuts, but on honesty, craftsmanship, and perseverance.
Beyond building the business, Abdul Jaleel Bajwa also dedicated himself to serving the wider industry. He served as Senior Vice Chairman of the Surgical Association of Pakistan and spent fifteen years as President of a labor union, reflecting his commitment not only to the profession but also to the people who helped shape it.
Today, Ekal Surgical Works stands as a testament to the vision of two brothers whose courage and determination changed the course of their family's future. While we remember Abdul Jaleel Bajwa with gratitude and pride, Mohammad Afzal Bajwa continues to carry forward the values they built together, alongside the next generation. Their legacy lives on in every instrument we manufacture and every relationship we build.
